Customer relationship management becomes business-critical when sales, operations, and leadership teams depend on it for pipeline visibility, customer follow-up, activity tracking, document handling, and user accountability. The CRM platform needed a reliable AWS foundation that could support day-to-day business workflows without unnecessary operational complexity.

Ficode designed and implemented the CRM AWS deployment with a focus on secure operations, cost control, release repeatability, and future scalability.

The application was deployed using a separate frontend and backend architecture. The frontend is served through a web proxy layer, while backend API requests are routed to the application service running privately on the server. The backend connects to a private relational database and stores CRM document files on Amazon S3.

Infrastructure provisioning was defined using AWS CloudFormation, allowing the environment to be reviewed, recreated, and maintained consistently. CI/CD workflows were implemented to support controlled initial deployments and reliable future redeployments of both frontend and backend components.

Ficode also prepared operational documentation covering architecture, deployment procedures, access guidance, rollback processes, issue history, API testing, and post-release checks. This provided a structured handover package and reduced reliance on informal operational knowledge.

Future architecture options identified in the source case study include Amazon CloudFront, an Application Load Balancer, container-based deployment, expanded observability, dedicated managed database capacity, and higher availability patterns as adoption grows.

Why AWS Was the Right Fit:

The CRM required secure customer-data handling, repeatable deployments, durable document storage, controlled operational access, and a future growth path. AWS supported these needs with managed database services, object storage, infrastructure as code, identity controls, private networking, and monitoring-ready operations.

AWS was a better fit than a traditional hosting model because the architecture could start cost-consciously with Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS for MySQL, Amazon S3, Amazon VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Systems Manager, and CloudWatch, while still providing a clear path to CloudFront, load balancing, containerisation, expanded monitoring, and high availability.

The current AWS setup is more secure than a basic hosting platform because the database is isolated from public access, application access is controlled through defined network rules, infrastructure changes are repeatable through CloudFormation, and operational access is managed through AWS Systems Manager rather than relying solely on direct server administration paths.

AWS security controls also provide a stronger baseline than a generic virtual server deployment. Amazon VPC, security groups, private database connectivity, IAM permissions, Systems Manager access patterns, and CloudWatch monitoring help reduce public exposure, strengthen access governance, and improve operational visibility without requiring unnecessary third-party tooling during the initial release stage.

The architecture was intentionally right-sized for the initial CRM rollout. It provides a foundation that can later adopt CloudFront, load balancing, managed container services, dedicated database capacity, expanded monitoring, and high-availability patterns as demand increases.
