Real-Time IoT Data Processing for Energy Intelligence

Ficode engineered an event-driven AWS architecture that receives telemetry from connected commercial buildings, processes incoming readings and delivers usable data to energy-analysis services and engineer-defined anomaly rules.

The project in context

Commercial buildings produce data through meters, HVAC equipment, lighting and building management systems. Ficode engineered the AWS event-driven processing layer between those building systems and the platform’s analytical services. Incoming telemetry is routed, prepared and supplied to downstream consumers.

Different building systems. Inconsistent readings. Demanding data flows.

The client needed usable telemetry from several types of building equipment, each producing information in different forms. Collecting readings alone was not enough: the platform also needed a way to route and process events before consumption comparisons or anomaly rules could use them.

The challenge Before

Different sources

Building systems produce varied readings

Processing requirement

Raw telemetry needs routing and preparation

Analysis demand

Consumer services need usable data

With Ficode Connected Approach

Ingest telemetry

Receive readings from connected equipment

Route and process

Use an AWS event-driven data path

Deliver usable data

Supply trends, comparisons and rules

Bring readings in. Process events. Supply the right services.

01

Ingest

Connected meters, mechanical systems, lighting and building management networks supply readings to the platform’s event-driven ingestion layer.

02

Route

The event-driven architecture routes incoming telemetry into the processing path so that each reading can move beyond initial collection.

03

Process

Processing components turn incoming events into information the platform’s consuming services can use for energy analysis and comparisons.

04

Deliver

Processed data reaches downstream services and supports evaluation of engineer-defined rules, schedules and thresholds for configured anomalies.

From connected building readings to energy intelligence

Building systems

Meters, HVAC, lighting and BMS telemetry

AWS processing

Ingests, routes and prepares events

Platform consumers

Energy analysis and anomaly rules

CONNECTED OUTCOME

Building readings move through an event-driven AWS processing path into the services that support consumption trends, comparisons and engineer-defined anomaly evaluation.

A usable data flow for energy analysis

Event-driven collection

Readings from different connected building systems enter a defined ingestion and routing path rather than stopping at collection.

Data prepared for analysis

The processing layer supplies usable telemetry to services behind consumption trends and performance comparisons.

Support for anomaly evaluation

Processed readings can be evaluated against engineer-defined rules, schedules and thresholds used to identify configured anomalies.

Clear system responsibilities

Telemetry processing remains distinct from the separate building integration functions used to execute commands and read back responses.

Confirmed technology and implementation scope

AWS event-driven ingestion, routing and processing; connected building telemetry from meters, HVAC, lighting and BMS; downstream energy analytics and anomaly rules.

Does your building data reach the services that need it?

Ficode can help assess how connected-building telemetry is ingested, processed and supplied to analytics and rule-based services, with the processing and equipment-control responsibilities kept clear.
