Your GP Consultation · Healthcare project rescue
From a stalled software project to a more secure digital GP platform
Ficode took ownership of a partially developed healthcare application, tackled reliability and security issues, optimised the codebase and database, and added the functionality needed for remote GP consultations.

Remote consultations and cloud hostingGiving an unfinished healthcare platform a stronger foundation
Founded by two UK doctors, Your GP Consultation set out to make GP consultations available remotely. During COVID-19, demand for virtual care increased while in-person appointments were restricted.
When Ficode joined, the application had been partially developed by another supplier. Important integrations were missing, progress had been slow, and software defects and security concerns needed attention. Ficode focused on recovering the existing investment rather than unnecessarily starting again.
An incomplete application when remote healthcare mattered most
Previous development delays, unresolved bugs, reliability problems and security concerns were holding the project back. The client needed a partner able to take ownership of the existing code and complete essential capabilities.

Improved UX and video consultationsTake ownership. Stabilise the code. Deliver the missing pieces.
Ficode worked on the existing platform, combining codebase improvements, database optimisation, UI/UX enhancements and new functionality. The approximately 3–6 month engagement addressed both technical quality and the experience of patients and doctors.
Codebase stabilisation
Reviewed and improved existing code, resolved bugs and addressed reliability issues.
Database improvements
Optimised database operations and improved underlying application efficiency.
UI/UX refresh
Refined interfaces and workflows for a more intuitive booking and consultation experience.
Remote consultations
Implemented features including Twilio-based video and audio consultations.
Strengthening safeguards for a healthcare application
Security was a key concern in the inherited platform. Ficode strengthened the application’s authentication and access controls, secure communications, database handling and deployment approach.
Authenticated users
Improved login mechanisms and MFARole-based access

A recovered project. A more dependable digital service.
Ficode addressed the inherited technical problems and helped move the partially developed platform forward during a period of high demand for remote consultations.
Development brought back on track
Ownership of the existing codebase and delivery of missing features helped progress the project.
Security strengthened
MFA, role-based access, authentication and secure communications improved key safeguards.
More reliable software
Bug fixes, codebase work and database optimisation addressed underlying stability concerns.
Better remote consultation experience
UI/UX improvements and Twilio integration supported digital interaction between GPs and patients.
Modernisation across the application stack, with AWS hosting
Ficode’s work brought together ASP.NET MVC, Microsoft SQL Server, REST APIs, LINQ, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, with Twilio integration for video and audio consultations. The application was deployed using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Specific AWS services and internal infrastructure have not been provided, so no particular AWS architecture or service-level claims are made here.
