Automated Mobile Build & Release Pipelines on AWS

Ficode introduced eight automated pipelines covering Flutter Android, Flutter iOS and native Android applications. Signing materials are retrieved from cloud storage when builds run, while native Android releases are sent automatically to the Google Play internal test track.

The project in context

Building apps serve a connected smart-building platform, but each mobile target brings its own toolchain, signing requirements and release steps. Ficode introduced eight automated pipelines covering Flutter Android, Flutter iOS and native Android applications.

Different mobile targets. Machine-dependent builds. Manual release handoffs.

The smart-building platform needed a consistent way to build applications across three mobile pathways. Local dependencies and manual steps made it harder to repeat releases, while signing credentials required careful handling.

The challenge Before

Different build targets

Flutter Android, iOS and native Android

Local machine dependency

Manual builds vary with local environments

Signing and handoffs

Credentials and releases need careful handling

With Ficode Connected Approach

Defined mobile pipelines

Eight AWS-based application workflows

Target-specific builds

Consistent steps for each app pathway

Managed signing and delivery

Build-time retrieval; Android test track

Eight pipelines, with a build and delivery route for each app target

01

Trigger

Use an established CI/CD workflow to initiate each mobile application build.

02

Build

Run target-appropriate builds for Flutter Android, Flutter iOS and native Android applications through the eight reported pipelines.

03

Sign

Store code-signing materials in cloud storage and retrieve them when required by a build.

04

Deliver

Automate native Android delivery to the Google Play internal test track.

From a source change to a repeatable mobile build and release

Source change

A defined pipeline starts the workflow

Target-specific build

Flutter or native Android application

Signing and handoff

Signing materials retrieved as needed

CONNECTED OUTCOME

Eight pipelines cover three mobile pathways; native Android builds are delivered automatically to Google Play internal testing.

More consistent mobile delivery across three application pathways

Repeatable application builds

Eight pipeline-driven workflows provide defined build steps across Flutter Android, Flutter iOS and native Android.

Controlled signing-material retrieval

Build-time retrieval from cloud storage makes code-signing materials part of the managed workflow.

A clearer route to Android internal testing

Native Android releases can reach the Google Play internal test track automatically.

A delivery approach spanning app types

The pipelines cover distinct Flutter and native Android pathways while retaining the target-specific steps each application requires.

Confirmed technology and implementation scope

AWS-based mobile CI/CD workflows; Flutter Android, Flutter iOS, Native Android; cloud-stored signing materials; Google Play internal testing.
